Take a journey into the past!

Description

The Finley Historical Museum showcases the rich heritage of the Finley District. It offers a wonderful opportunity to step back in time and discover the historic pieces that shaped the daily lives of pioneering rural families.

Explore a spectacular collection of machinery and memorabilia built over 40 years. Experience unique engineering, working vintage tractors, a 1952 Dragline, and a working windmill. Bring the family to explore our replicas, walk through the historic McAllister Homestead, and visit the original 1896 Myrtle Park School. A brilliant day out for history and machinery lovers alike.

Established in 1969 by John Hetrelezis and local enthusiasts, the museum secured land on the Newell Highway to store a growing collection of regional history. The project surged forward thanks to Christina and Norman McAllister, who funded a replica of Finley's first permanent residence, an 1878 log cabin home originally built by their father at Myrtle Park.

Conveniently located right at the prominent rest stop area alongside the highway, look out for the Mary Lawson Wayside Rest on the Newell Highway.
