The Peppin Heritage Centre – History, Art & Local Culture
Once Deniliquin’s first public school, the Peppin Heritage Centre is a landmark rich in local history. Originally established in 1861, the site has evolved over time and now serves as a vibrant cultural hub and Visitor Information Centre. Inside, you’ll find the Peppin Gallery with year-round exhibitions, a charming gift shop, and free bike hire for exploring the town. Adjoining Crossing Cafe is a convenient place to enjoy a meal.
Open seven days a week (Mon–Sat: 9am–4pm, Sun: 9am–2pm), the Centre welcomes all visitors at 295 George Street, Deniliquin NSW 2710. Entry is free, with donations appreciated to support local arts and heritage.
Free bike hire is available for visitors from the Visitor’s Information Centre at the Peppin Heritage Centre.
Thanks to recent Stronger Country Community Funding, exciting upgrades are underway to enhance the School Room and Museum, creating a more interactive, living-history experience—set for completion by April 2026.
